Delegate of the East celebrates anniversary

Infinite Loop of the East Pacific has reached his two years anniversary as Delegate last week, and is probably the longest reigning Delegate of Nationstates. He was willing to say a few words to our reporter:

Can you look back on your past two years as Delegate?

Ok, as best I can remember, a little over two years ago, shortly after the Heartland invasion I grew a bit tired of the invasion scene and began looking for something else, I figured that I would retire Loop and take up governing one of my regions.
Well it was about May, something, early on in the month like first week I moved Loop to the EP.
I intended to settle it in for the long run of well slacking off and being idle but I was befriended by Lothlandermore who asked for a bit of help in watchng the region, he was Delegate back then, and a couple of weeks went by and he had some "Real Life" crop up on him (I heard of this "Real Life" thing, the jury is still out on it). Anywho, Loth asked me to take over for him and in a flurry election propaganda he and I got my endorsements up. He dropped out and left, that was May 25th 2k3 or as we like to call it in the EP, May Day. Well, all went groovy for that first few days, and then I decided to exploit every NSers favorite resource and made an Invision board; I didn't like Proboards much. Then, in those days for like a week there was just two of us there, Myself and Codex who has proven himself a true EPacifican.
I started running my flag service out of the forum then, Out of the like 16MB Invision gives you I used almost 10 on flags and flag related stuff.

Around now the RR was becoming active and a guy called Gres took the lead, he decided that since the EP was the smallest Feeder (we became one during my first week) that his minions didn't want to live in the Netherhells anymore they wanted to live "Up there" you know Where babies burp and flowers bloom.
Well, he announced all the invasion plans and formed the RRA with the assistance of
Kandarin, and there was a "War" the EP was aided by My old friends, by the ACC, and most importantly by the South Pacific under command of Goddessness moved in and we won the battle banishing them forever to the underworld.
Gres was deleted I think for multying, but never again held that much power.
Over time Kandarin and I have been pretty much on the level with each other,
sometimes friendly, sometimes not, but his cooler head prevailed and he now rules the RR with only like two interuptions in service.
This was all in late summer. By October we had what I like to call the night of the Cheater, when the National Stalinists, who had been blasting regions for several nights decided to attack the EP, usually the only hint that they were there was a nation showed up called 0_0 or some other emoticon looking thing and he would seize the region and start booting folks out en masse,
Well when he hit the Ep, I was awake and screen capped his endo list and immeadiatly got ahold of a Mod, I think it was Reploid or Cogitation. The bannings started, but I was returned to the EP with Endo intact and resumed my place. We still had a few oddballs showing up from time to time, but invasion wise it is pretty dead, It was around this time I recieved an invitation to join this new Invader thing called the ADN. Perhaps I should have joined, may ave helped mold it into a different case, but I digress.
By this time The EP had about twenty active folks and we decided to become a Full on region, we Confederated on October 31st and began our place as the East.

When Francos took the Pacific I wasn't too keen on him and was called in on the Overthrow FS crew as an invasion advisor, and well, my opinions were not taken into account and hotter heads prevailed, purchased a Clone army and they failed to over throw the republic. I then realized that perhaps the NPO wasn't so bad, this is around march 2004 and I decided to have a bit of fun. April 1st the EP forum became the NPO East division, this was the Funniest Practical Joke ever, everyone was freaking out. But I revealed the joke and all was right in the world.

Can you say a few words on the relations between the East and the other Pacifics?

Over the time the EP became friends with the SP around the time that SLR and FS were doing the whole "LR flies a CSA flag and she is a Rascist" bit and I came to her defense, running the Stainless Banner (the actual CSA flag) up the old Loop flagpole
and lending her moral support. Namely cause I dislike people pulling the accusation of racsim just to fluff up their own fannies.
Peace was also eventually made with the Pacific due into part from the I got tired of the plot thing. We never formalized anything with the North but I was Ok with Twoslit, when Thel D'ran became delegate, the Ep and the North became friendly. We were pretty far from the West as Norion was Nuts, he accused me of Booting everyone who passed like ten endorsements, and claimed I edited posts and did things to change peoples posts. Stuff he was finally ousted for, and I was pretty much vindicated.
Well currently the South and the East are as close as we ever were, I talk regularly with members of the SP, and even though I'm not as active here as I one was, we are still buddies. I think that the relationship between the regions will grow as all goes along.

New Undersecretary of Justice

PapaC is appointed as new Undersecretary of Justice by Secretary J Delight. Although the Election Results haven't made definite, the secretary felt that it is "in the best interests of the region and in keeping with the mandates of the Charter, to announce the appointment of the Undersecretary a little sooner than usual." With the appointment, PapaC will leave the Department of the Region after having served in that department as undersecretary for several terms. There are no indications yet as to who will become the next Undersecretary of the Region.

Debate on Bullying

Recent events have made the administration staff call for making an amend to the 3 warnings law, this to include the concept of bullying. Under the current law, bullying is only warnable if abuse words are used. Secretary of Justice J Delight has picked up the issue and brought to discussion in the "For things that go bump" forum of the council area. As inall council discussions, every member of the South Pacific is encouraged to participate.

New UN Resolution up for vote

A new UN resolution has put up for vote, called "National Systems of Tax". The resolution encourages nations to adopt a progressive system of taxation, but leaves the final choice up to the individual nations.
You can vote in the delegate's office on the offsite forum, or let the delegate know your opinion by PM or telegram.

New Delegate in the NP

After a long day, Stars of Sky has won the delegate race in the North Pacific, with help of the ADN network, defeating Lungwallabad and Thel Dran; the latter was the candidate the South Pacific forces were ordered to endorse. At the moment the situation has calmed down a bit and the South Pacific forces and the team of boardwatchers were called back. Hopes are that the new delegate will be able to solve the conflict in the North Pacific and lead the region back to peace and stability, but many remain sceptic and fear that the war is not over yet. The official headquarter of the North Pacific is on the forum
http://s2.invisionfree.com/The_North_Pacific , however a new forum has been installed on http://s11.invisionfree.com/True_North_Pacific for nations who feel uncomfortable to post on a board that had been in use by one of the factions.
The discussion on the North Pacific can be found in many places on the South Pacific board.

Intervention in the North Pacific

The South Pacific defense force has been called for duty on an urgent intervention mission in the North Pacific. According to the Vice President, the ADN is putting troops in to endorse a non-native named Lungwallabad, while the South Pacific troops are ordered to support Thel Dran. The current endorsement counts as per noon South Pacific Standard Time, are 161 for Thel Dran and 157 for Lungwallabad. This race for delegacy is not directly related to the conflict between the NPD and the NPU that has torn the North Pacific apart for so many months. The situation was created when former delegate Pixiedance resigned from the UN, leaving the nation delegateless and open to take for any group.

Board Administration calls for smaller signatures

The board administration by means of Fudgie, has asked the users of the South-Pacific offsite forum to keep the size of their signatures within reason, this to protect people with slow internet connections and to improve user-friendliness in general. The guidelines are put as follows:
"We're asking nicely that all signatures be confined to 750 characters, and if you must have an image, keep it to 100x100 pixels (that's the same size as your avatar)."
While the administration is asking nicely now, they keep the option open to modify signatures themselves if they remain to big.
Details can be found in the forum for Technical issues.

Provisional Election Results are in!

Earlier today, the Elections Commission has announced the provisional results of the elections for the Cabinet positions. If no objections against the voting process are made in the coming week, our government will consist of the following persons:

Vice President: Fudgie (81% of the votes)
Secretary of Defense: Kaselande (89% of the votes)
Secretary of Justice: J Delight (59% of the votes)
Secretary of Foreign Affairs: Karatafasadi (66 % of the votes)
Secretary of Intelligence: Goddessness (89 % of the votes)

Although about half of the position were contested, the voter turn out was tragically low, with around 37 votes per position in average. In the previous elections, the turnout was up to 50 votes per position. The only close race these election was for the position of Craziest of the South Pacific, between the incumbent Curlyhoward and former craziest Parrrrtay. In the end, the latter has won the race by one vote in difference. SPOT congratulates all elected officials.

More details of the provisional elections results can be found in the Elections Commission offices on the off-site forum.
