Overdue elections finally underway

A new round of elections has been called for August by the Election Commission. After being restored to full force (Minbaric Federal Zones and Tsunami agreed to stay on for another term with the former appointed as new chief, and Tsrill replacing Papapatagonia), it was decided that it was about time to hold the long overdue elections. The previous one, hold in March 2007, was marred by two unfilled positions, a first in South Pacific history, and followed by a long search for potential candidates. The August elections looks a bit brighter, with the registration and campaign period nearly over: there is at least a candidate for every position, although none of the positions (except for the unofficial position of "craziest") is actually contested so far. However, there are still a few hours left to register before voting starts tomorrow.
