Voting has started

Today the voting booth for election of the government positions have been opened, one day later than usual. THe commission have so far not communicated the reason for this, nor have they publsihed the closing day of the voting period. The number of contestants have hit an all time low these elections: even though there are candidates for all positions, none of the available positions are contested, not even that of craziest person of the region. This might be caused by the traditional summer slump on internet communities, and it is to be hoped that the participation level will pick up again in september.

Election candidates so far

For the upcoming cabinet elections, there is one candidate for every position so far. It is basically the same team as during the previous term, with exception of the department of Intelligence. Incumbent secretary Goddessness has announced to continue her political carreer in another region. Her position is now sought after by Miss Tessmacher, a largely unknown person in the region.
"I have been a long time lurker on the boards, and have watched how things progressed. I decided that when the new elections came up that I would throw my hat in and see what happened," according to Miss Tessmacher.

SPOT/SPINN to host debate

SPOT and SPINN will cooperate on a debate between the candidates running for an office on the important issues of the region. What the important issues of this region are, is decided by teh voters who can PM Tsrill the questions they want to ask. Those questions will be forwarded anonimously and publicly to one of the candidates, after which the other candidates have the opportunity to react. This is a novelty in our region, as in previous editions of our elections, candidates had limited possibility to react on each other's ideas and platforms. Questions to individual candidates in their campaign threads are still possible, of course.
The debate will not be held in the elections forums, but in the SPIN regional forum.

Council operation

A proposal is currently be voted on in the forum "For things that go bump on in the night" that will alter the functioning of the council itself. If the proposal passes, discussions will in the future be held in the main council chamber, while a seperate voting chamber will be created where polls are held. This because in the current situation "people are getting generally confused which forum is for what", according to Tsrill, starter of the debate.
